John D. “Uncle Jack” Howard of Malden, died on June 27, 2022 following a brief illness. Born on October 28, 1929 he celebrated over ninety years of life with his family and friends who were by his side when he passed at home.
Jack now joins his mother Mary and father Henry, along with his brothers Henry and Bobby, their wives, and his sister Mary Lou De Yeso of Malden. Jack was also preceded in death by his two nieces Debbie De Yeso of Murrells Inlet, SC and Linda Farnham of North Reading, MA.
Jack was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and went on to serve his country as an intelligence officer during the Korean War. Upon his return and with an endless amount of stories to tell, he worked for AT&T/Verizon before retiring, and spent his non-working days traveling, gossiping and having a daily martini with a lemon twist. He was an avid sports fan and crossword fanatic, and would spend his days bantering with the neighbors, the postman, and any of the dozens of people who crossed his path throughout the day.
Jack is survived by his niece Christine (De Yeso) Trevisone and her husband Michael, his great niece Kristin (O’Leary) Morris and her husband Danny, and his two great nephews Richard O’Leary and Sean Daly. He is also survived by many Howard nieces, nephews and their families.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday July 1st at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street in Wakefield at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday June 30th from 5-7 PM.
Jack was supported by a multitude of caring health care workers, and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Jack’s name be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice 360 Merrimack Street, Suite 425 Lawrence, MA 01843 ATTN: Development Office
