Janet E. (Austin) McCarthy, a proud lifelong Charlestown Townie, entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at her daughter's home in Stoneham. She was 77 years of age.
Janet was born in Boston on March 16, 1945, a daughter of the late Albert Austin and Margaret (Lent) Austin. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Janet was a longtime employee of Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Company where she worked as a Claims Adjuster. In her free time, Janet enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casino and reading. Family was very important in Janet's life and she cherished all the special and quality moments she shared with her children and especially her 4 grandchildren who she was so very proud of each one of their individual accomplishments.
Janet is the beloved wife of the late Kenneth W. McCarthy. She is the devoted mother of Lisa Faletra and her husband John and Ken McCarthy and his wife Amy. She is the loving Nana to Connor, Evan, Emily and John Jr. She is the beloved sister of the late Ralph Austin, Ed Austin, Bob Austin, Joe Austin, Margie Turner, Marion Gray and Ruth Austin. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews, along with her beloved dog Finnegan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Janet's Funeral Service on Saturday morning, July 2, 2022 at 10 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
