Anthony Paul Durand, age 78, passed away at home in Chicopee surrounded by his loving family on June 24, 2022. He was born in Springfield on November 17, 1943 to the late Omer and Gertrude (LaBier) Durand. On August 11, 2001 he was married to Valda Villa. Anthony served in the National Guard. He worked as a Class A machinist until his retirement. Anthony had a variety of interest, especially motorcycles, photography and fishing. He leaves his wife Valda (Villa) Durand of Chicopee; two daughters, Rebecca Durand of Feeding Hills and Michelle Smith of Lansdowne, PA; one sister, Jeanne Pelchat and her husband Duane of Belchertown; two grandchildren, Donavon Smith and Joshua Smith; one great granddaughter, Arrisa Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Roy Durand and George Durand and one sister, Gloria Anthony. Visiting hours will be at Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee on Friday, July 1, between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. A Memorial Service will also be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 9:00 am with a funeral home prayer service to begin at 10 am. Burial and Military Honors will follow in Lake Vale Cemetery, Belchertown.
