J. Ronald Nelson, 87

Dateline: Norton, MA

J. Ronald Nelson age 87, of Norton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the comforting love of his family on Saturday June 25, 2022. He was the beloved husband of M. Beatrice (Teixeira) Nelson, to whom he was wed for sixty-seven years.

Born in Attleboro, Ma on, July 18, 1934, he was a loving son of the late George O. and Jessie P. (Linkletter) Nelson.

Ron grew up and was educated in Attleboro. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Bristol and was honorably discharged on July 14, 1955 with the rank of Machinists Mate Third Class.

A resident of Norton for the past sixty-seven years, Mr. Nelson was a toolmaker by trade, a successful businessman, a landlord and the former owner of Wagner’s Flowers in Attleboro and Norton.

Ronald’s family was the focal point of his life and he’ll always be remembered for his hard work ethics and the lifelong memories created at the family’s home on West Island in Fairhaven.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted sons: Jess R. Nelson of Attleboro, Randy J. Nelson and his wife Lisa of Norton and Scott M. Nelson and his wife Debbie of Pine Island, Florida. He was the cherished grandfather of Nicole M. Nelson of Rehoboth, Taylor J. Nelson of New Jersey and Kyle J. Nelson of Somerville. He was the dear brother of the late George Nelson and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 6th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue), Norton.

Committal services, accompanied with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 7th at 1:00 P.M. at the Norton Common Cemetery, West Main Street (Route 123), Norton.

In lieu of flowers, Ron’s family would prefer that donations in his memory be made to Hope Hospice, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
