SEBAGO- Hartley Merle Shaw, age 89, passed on to be with Jesus on June 25, 2022, from congestive heart failure.
He was born in Sebago on Sept. 26, 1932. He was one of six children of Wilson and June Martin Shaw and attended Sebago schools.
He learned carpentry from his Dad and built many beautiful summer homes on the Great Sholes of Sebago Lake. He later remodeled an old two-story gas station into a nice home for his family.
He married Ruth McLaughlin in 1957 and were married for 64 years. They had a daughter, Tammy, son, Steve, and a daughter Julie.
Hartley managed a wood chipping Mill in East Baldwin in the '60's. He drove tractor trailer for Saunders Bros in Westbrook for 35 years.
Hartley loved deer hunting and fishing. From 1992 until 2018, Hartley and Ruth went on bus tours. They also flew to Florida and Tennessee for the attractions.
Hartley had a wonderful easy-going nature and was always laughing. He was a wonderful husband, parent, and grandparent.
He is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Richard Shaw, Signa Milliken, Merlin Shaw, William Shaw, and Bunny Small Irish.
Hartley is survived by the love of his life, his wife Ruth, his daughter Tammy Shaw, son Steve Shaw and his wife Donna, daughter Julie and her husband Dave Tompkins, grandchildren, Jeff Noble, Tom Shaw, Jaymes Shaw, Luke Pellitier, Alvin Ridlon, Deni McCann, Amanda Shaw, Michelle Trundy, Jessie Murphy, and Matt Pelletier and all of their mates, plus sixteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law- Linwood Milliken.
A memorial service to celebrate Hartley's life will be held on Sunday July 3 at 1 PM at the Kezar Falls Assembly of God Church, 213 Federal Road, Parsonsfield. Hartley will be interred at Lakeside Cemetery in North Sebago.
