LOWELL On the morning of June 22, 2022, Quelminda C. (Silva) Picanco of Lowell, died at the age of 80.
Quelminda was born on Graciosa, a small island off the coast of Portugal on November 27, 1941 and was raised and educated there. That is also where she met the love of her life, her husband, the late Valentim Picanco. On Graciosa, they also had two children, Maria and Victor, before moving to the United States in 1973, settling in Lowell with her family.
She and her husband raised their two children and went on to help raise their grandchildren throughout the years. Her favorite activities were gardening and entertaining on Holidays for her beloved and growing family. She remained the Matriarch and rock of her family until her passing and will be deeply missed.
A communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, she also worked at various local manufacturing companies and later worked at Old Mother Hubbard. Mostly, she worked keeping her household and family happy.
Her survivors include her children Maria Correnty and her husband, Ronald Wolterding and Victor Picanco and his wife, Grace; her grandchildren, Bobby, Brenda, Krystal, Kelsey, Kaneesha and Mikey; and her great grandchildren, Jayden, Jazara, Lylah, Cameron, Aralyn, Kailyn, Elaina, Hadley and J.J.
You are invited to Her Visitation 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Morning, June 28 at the MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 Central Street, Lowell. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery.
