Georgia Ann Rogers was born on April 25, 1932 in Cook’s County, Chicago, Illinois to LaVerne May All-Beal and George Wernett and adopted by Arthur C. Beal. They moved to Washington where Georgia graduated from Highline High School as Valedictorian. While in high school, playing first and second chair clarinet, she met her future husband and love of her life, even if not love at first sight. Douglas Albert Rogers married Georgia Anne on August 31, 1950 in Seattle. Doug and Georgia lived in numerous places raising their children; Wayne Douglas, Colleen Kaye, Randall Davis, Kathleen Melody, Shannon Noreen, Inger Lise and their respective spouses.
Georgia was preceded to Heaven by Douglas on July 29, 2011, her son, Wayne Douglas, son-in-law, Milton Russell and Virgil and LaVonne Hoffman.
She is survived by four of her children, Colleen, Randy, Kathy, Shannon and Inger; 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Georgia “Grandma” has always been active, loved by many and you’d better be ready for a hug and a meal. She was a founding 4H leader for two large 4H groups, Vashon H Islanders on Vashon Island and Valley Vaqueros where the family’s foundation of sheep started. She always had a song in her heart as an avid alto singer and a member of numerous choirs, quartets and chorales. In her spare time she would sew and create cakes with her daughter, Kathy. She always had an open door and open heart for people and animals.
Grandma went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 18, 2022 at Prosser Memorial Hospital, surrounded by love and her family.
A Celebration of Life and potluck (smoked beef brisket will be provided) will be held at the Patriot Barn, 22202 North Hinzerling Road, Prosser on Saturday June 25, 2022 starting at 3:00 PM.
