CHESTERFIELD--Jay R. McCarroll, Jr., 80, of Chesterfield, passed away on June 9, 2022 at home in Chesterfield.
He worked for General Motors for 39 years and drove a school bus for Anderson Community School Corporation, McCarroll Transit, for thirty plus years. Jay was a member of numerous clubs and organizations throughout his life. He belonged to the United Auto Workers for several years while working at General Motors and he enjoyed league bowling, farming/gardening, loved to travel, a sports fan, a big Boiler fan and Saint Louis Cardinal Fan. He was a connoisseur of food, but most of all, he never met a stranger, his sense of humor was always on point, and he was incredibly competitive with family games. His smile was contagious, and his family was his all-time favorite past time.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years and four weeks shy of celebrating 60 years, married to his "Sweetie", Carol (Cade) McCarroll; four fabulous children, Jay (Kelly) R. McCarroll, III, of Arizona, Marla McCarroll of Arizona, Monte McCarroll of Indiana and Amie (Derek Taylor) Puente of Indiana; five grandchildren, Quenton Puente of Indiana, Jessica (Ben) Silashki of Arizona, Shelby Puente of Indiana and Brandelyn McCarroll of Indiana and Colin McCarroll of the United States Army; and one great-grandson, Jack Silashki of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay R. and Christina McCarroll, Sr.; his brother, Dwain McCarroll and sister, Karen (McCarroll) Martin.
Celebration of Life will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on July 7, 2022 at Mill Creek Civic Center in Chesterfield.
