URREJOLA Cecilia Longtime resident of West Roxbury, formerly of San Felipe, Chile, passed away on June 22, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Hector Sanchez for 55 years. Devoted mother of Cecilia Koegel of CA., Carmen Gloria Urrejola of West Roxbury, Ana Maria Salfity and her husband Mike of CA., Fernando Sanchez of West Roxbury, and the late Hector Sanchez. Loving Yaya of Claudia, Rita, Rodrigo, Jennifer, Carolina, Leslie, Fernando, Jonathan, Catalina, and Jabella, and her great-grandchildren Aiyana, Marcello, Tatiannah, Andre, Ariana, Sofia, Elisabeth, Christian, Jose Samuel, Emili, Antonio, Hedy, and Alessandra. Dear sister of Eliana, Ramon, Eugenio, and the late Arturo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Cecilia was passionate about music, she was an opera singer, concert pianist, and composer. She was an advocate for the less fortunate, and was the head of the San Felipe Chapter of the Red Cross where she served as a volunteer nurse for many years. Cecilia was a talented writer, recently winning at 95 years of age, the Mujer Semilla Award for the international women’s month for her contribution to literature, arts, and music.
Visiting hours will be held at the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Wednesday, June 29th from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, June 30th at 10am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Name Church at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Cecilia’s memory to Holy Name Church 1689 Centre St. West Roxbury, MA 02132.
