Larry Wayne Gunn, 73, of Omega, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Pastor Dan Eidson and Pastor Craig Barnett officiating. Eulogies will be given by Debbie Arrington Smith and Van Lindsey. Mr. Gunn will be laid to rest at Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery in Cook County. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Ray Everett Baker III, Jackson Cole Talley, Andy Arrington, Rusty Arrington, Jessie Spires, Everett Rowan, Zack Wetherington and Gage Barnes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Holton, Russell Arrington, Van Lindsey, John Dale Parr, Wendell Sumner, Steve Smith, Tommy Taylor and Dale Hewitt.
Born September 7, 1948, in Tifton, Mr. Gunn was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Gunn and Ruby Mae Sumner Gunn. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marnie Gunn Talley; one brother, Ray Vickers; and three sisters, Jo Ann Lott, Betty Gunn Arrington and Linda Spires. Before retiring, he worked as an engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation and he was a member of Lenox Baptist Church. He loved his Lord; his wife; his children; his grandchildren; his family and friends; fishing; and his martens-birds. He was hard-working; loved to eat with family and friends; and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.
Mr. Gunn is survived by his wife, Barbara Yvonne Hall Gunn of Omega; one daughter, Lori Gunn Baker of Valdosta; and three grandchildren, Ray Everett Baker III, Marlee Nicole Talley and Jackson Cole Talley.
