Armando DiCenso, age 82, of Medford passed away on Tuesday, June 21st, at Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Born and raised in Sulmona, Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Fioreno and Concetta (DelMonaco) DiCenso. Armando worked in construction for 46 years and was a proud member of Local 22 Laborer’s Union.
Armando moved to Venezuela as a teenager, and came to the U.S. in 1964, settling in Boston’s North End. He has live in Medford since 1990. Armando enjoyed going to the casinos and horse races, and loved to return to the North End to visit with friends in the Italian Club and in coffee shops, as well as on the Bocce courts.
Armando was the beloved husband of 54 years to Elena (Casasanta) DiCenso, and the devoted father of Connie Bianco and her husband Paul, and Josephine Dunbar and her husband Timothy, both of Medford. He was the loving grandfather of Vanessa Bianco and Giuliana Dunbar, and the dear brother of Anna Mastrangioli and Pasqualina Paolilli, both of Italy. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Wednesday, June 29th at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 28th from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.
