Daniel H. Stickney Sr. (known to many as “Senior”) passed away on May 31, 2022. He was an admired husband, son, father, grandfather and friend. Dan was educated in Boxford Public Schools and a 1975 graduate of Masconomet Regional High School, Boxford MA. Dan was employed in the family business of Stephen A. Stickney & Sons Mason Contractor for over 25 years. He then opened his own mason contractor business where he worked for more than 20 years before his retirement.
Dan moved to Middleton, MA in 1978 where he built his cherished home and made a beautiful family. Dan is survived by his wife, Kris, where they shared 42 years of marriage. He has 3 children, Kelley of Middleton, MA, Daniel Jr. & his fiancé Lacee of Benedicta, ME, and Shelby of Middleton, MA. He was also the loved grandfather to Braylee Anne and Grandfather, caretaker, and best friend of Jace Daniel. Both grandchildren were his pride and joy. Dan was the beloved son to Stephen Stickney and the late Patricia (Grady) Stickney of Boxford, MA. Family meant the world to him. He was a caring, supportive, and loving brother to Shawn and his wife Ann of Haverhill, MA, Kerry and his wife Judi of Boxford, MA, Patricia Englehart and her husband Francis of Hampton Falls, NH, Lance and his wife Brenda of Andover, ME, and Anthony of Derry, NH. Dan had several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Lastly, he had a close relationship with his in-laws, Patricia Kimball of Middleton, MA and the late George Kimball. Dan would refer to his father-in-law as his best friend. He was not only a mentor to him, but provided him with constant love and encouragement. It is comforting to know that Dan is reunited once again with his mother, father-in-law, and favorite dog, Isabel.
Dan left a lasting impression on everyone he met with his smile, his laugh, and sense of humor. He took pride in his yard and spent most days improving it in some way, shape, or form. Through the years, he took pleasure spending time with family and friends at the Stickney camp at Howe Brook in Northern Maine. His love for the outdoors in Maine enticed him to build his own family camp in Benedicta, Maine. There he enjoyed looking at Mt. Katahdin, mowing acres of lawn, four-wheeling with his daughters, playing yard games, and mingling with the fellow Mainers. He found happiness in hunting and fishing with his son, his best friend Jim Ryan, and all the other hunters. Dan opened the camp to anyone who wanted to experience a slice of heaven that he created. It will not be the same without him, but his knowledge for nature will live on through the next generation.
There are no words to describe how much he will be missed by all. He was a special man who will be remembered in everyone’s heart and memory. May he Rest in Peace. Dan’s family invites you to a “Celebration of Life” to be held on July 29, 2022 at the American Legion, 69 River Street, Middleton, MA from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Contributions in Dan’s memory can be made to: New England Donor Service, 60 1st Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
