CHICOPEE ~ Gabriel G. Veilleux, 84, of The Arbors in Chicopee and formerly of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, June 20, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Compton, Province of Quebec, Canada on November 25, 1937, a beloved son of the late Carolus and Marie L. (Poulin) Veilleux. He was raised and educated in Compton, P.Q., Canada and moved to the Indian Orchard section of Springfield in 1960. In 1985, he moved to Naugatuck, CT where he lived until moving to Chicopee Falls in 2004. He was employed as a Printing Press Operator at the former Diamond International Printing Company in Springfield and later at a printing company in Bridgeport, CT. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He could not wait for hockey season to begin so that he could cheer on the Boston Bruins and also liked to try his luck at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Gabriel and his wife, Monique, traveled extensively across Europe and the United States. Most of all, he loved spending time playing cards with his family. He was a communicant of the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls. Upon the closing of his church, he became a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Monique D. (Corriveau) Veilleux. They were married on January 30, 1960 at Saint Thomas Church in Compton, P.Q., Canada and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. He leaves his four loving children, Linda A. Auchter and her husband, David, of Southampton, Lise J. Veilleux of Chicopee, Donald M. Veilleux and his wife, Amy, of Enfield, CT and Paul R. Veilleux and his wife, Robin, of Seymour, CT; his 11 cherished grandchildren, Marshall Goodchild and his wife, Kristin, Juliet Locke and her husband, Keith, Daniel Auchter and his wife, Heather, Daniel Veilleux and his wife, Yuki, Nicole Veilleux, Jacqueline Veilleux, Jillian Lemon, Justin Veilleux, Caitlin Turley, Michael Sanzo and Brian Veilleux; his six cherished great-grandchildren whom he adored, Mason Goodchild, Livia, Kameron and Jesse Locke and Jacob and Emmet Auchter; his two dear sisters, Madeleine Legault of Montreal, Canada and Helene Nicole and her husband, Jules, of Feeding Hills; his dear brother, Jacques Veilleux of Sherbrooke, Canada; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his beloved son, Alain P. Veilleux who was Called Home on July 3, 2019; and several dear brothers and sisters. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 10 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. before his Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Sainte Rose de Lima Church, c/o 15 Chapel Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
