Elaine W. (Munro) Tomey, 91, of Marion died May 8, 2006 at home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Raymond H. Tomey.
Born May 21, 1914 in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Alfred L. and Lauretta A. (Miller) Munro, she lived in Mansfield, Norton, North Attleboro, Attleboro and Hyannis before retiring to Marion 25 years ago.
Mrs. Tomey was formerly employed by Engelhard Industries for many years until retirement.
She loved the community of Marion, baking cakes for neighbors and donating teddy bears to the Police Department to pass out. She has left behind many friends.
Mrs. Tomey was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
She was grateful to her granddaughter Elaine W. Hayward, her sister-in-law Gerry Munro, and Rose Jackson for their assistance allowing Elaine to keep her independence and live at home.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Arlene R. Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Beverly C. Sanford of Boca Raton, FL; 2 sisters, Shirley M. Ostmann of Bethesda, MD, and Mary Riffe of Palm Bay, FL; a brother, Clifford Munro of Cascade, CO; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Her arrangements will be private.
