Reisa Ann Bunick (76) of Boston and formerly of Cambridge and Chelsea passed on June 15. Reisa grew up in Chelsea, the third child of the late Florence and the late Reuben Bunick. Her family rented a flat in a three story home where there was never enough heat or enough room, but there was much love and security. Reisa went to Smith College on scholarship (with her junior year at the University of Toronto) and upon graduating moved to New York. After two years, she returned to the Boston area where she remained for the remainder of her life.
Reisa mainly worked in software design and development and her last job was using artificial intelligence techniques to construct a financial planner. This experience was useful when her mother’s Alzheimer’s progressed and she stopped working to be her caregiver. Her father showed signs of Alzheimer’s in his last few years as well and although he was in assisted living and a nursing home, he occupied Reisa’s attention for several more years.
Reisa retired with many interests and enjoyable volunteer jobs. Among her volunteer work, Reisa spent Tuesdays at Beacon Hill Village where many would call to speak directly with her to help with elder services. She also relished theatre matinees where she enjoyed seating people and watching a performance.
Reisa was the dear sister of Nick Bunick and his wife Mary Jo and the late Irving Bunick. She was the loving aunt of Neil Bunick and his girlfriend Sandra Allonen, Michael Bunick and his wife Evelyn Young, Dr. Cynthia Tucker, Kim DeNeffe, Kevin Bunick, Nicholas Avery Bunick and the late Christopher Bunick. Reisa also leaves behind many great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Bayada Home Health Care aides have been very loving and compassionate over the years to Reisa.
Services will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Chelsea, on Friday, June 17 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow in Danvers. The family invites you to join them for a luncheon following interment at Spinelli’s Restaurant, 10 Newbury Street, Peabody. Contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or Beacon Hill Village, 74 Joy Street, Suite 3, Boston, MA 02114.
