Jane Plumer Mansfield, 89, of Wayland, died peacefully in the care and comfort of her family at her Wayland residence on Thursday, June 2, 2022 due to declining health.
She was born in Newton on August 8, 1932 the daughter of the late William B. Plumer and Jane Ridgway Plumer.
Jane is survived by her devoted and loving children Linda M. Carroll and her husband Thomas of Marblehead and Robert A. Mansfield and his wife Dana of Ashland. Cherished grandmother of Kristen Foster and her husband Jeff of Austin, TX; Colin Mansfield of Boston; Scott Carroll and his wife Lindsay of Falls Church, VA and Jennifer Carne and her husband Jason of Sterling, VA. Sister of William R. Plumer and his wife Audrey of Chatham. Great-grandmother of Piper and Finley Foster. Also survived by three nieces.
Jane has been a resident of Wayland for over 67 years and spent her formative years in Newton. She was a graduate of Newton High School and received her BA in Home Economics from Connecticut College. While residing in Wayland, Jane was a self-employed Office Manager for six Manufacturer’s Representatives in the local area for over 35 years.
She was an active member of the community and was Treasurer for Pop Warner Football and Wayland High Boosters. She also enjoyed being a Camp Fire Girls leader. Jane was a devoted member and Treasurer for the Golden Tones for many years; a member of the League of Women Voters, active in the Wayland Historical Society and volunteered many hours as a Precinct Clerk for local, state and federal elections for the Town of Wayland.
She was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. Jane loved to travel, enjoyed music, played tennis and was a voracious reader. Her favorite pastime over the years was the time spent with her family and friends and she enjoyed many summers on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Jane will be fondly remembered and loved by all whose paths she crossed in her 89 years.
There will be no funeral home visitations. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Union Church, 14 Collins Road, Waban with the Rev. Amy Clark Feldman officiating.
Interment in Newton Cemetery for her family will be private.
