Dr. Clara (Reyburd) Estow, 77, of Westport, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 with her husband, Daniel B. Estow by her side.
Dr. Estow was born in Cali, Colombia, daughter of the late Abraham Reydburd and Eva (Feldman) Manevich and had resided in Westport for the past 27 years. She was a “founding father” of UMass Boston and taught there for 37 years. Following retirement, she was awarded the title of professor emeritus. Clara specialized in Spanish and Latin American history. Her book on the reign of King Pedro I of Castile remains the definitive work on mid-fourteenth century Spain.
Survivors along with her husband include her daughter: Sarah Estow of Greensboro, NC; along with many friends and former colleagues.
