HOLLIS- Chester “Sonny” Leroy Heath Jr., age 68, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 after a courageous battle with Leukemia and other compounding health issues.
He was born April 3, 1954 in Maine to the late Francise (Spearin) Heath and Chester Heath Sr. He graduated from Gorham High School and began a career in carpentry while also engaging in his passion for automobiles. He enjoyed stockcar racing at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway with his longtime friend, Bruce McLachlan and also fixing, building, and modifying vehicles. He found love with his late wife, Marsha Shaw. He is predeceased by his sisters, Deborah Heath and Becky Heath; his brother, Doug Heath; and his son Alan “A.J.” Shaw. Sonny is survived by his brother, Eric Heath; his sons Brian Heath and Jimmy Shaw; his grandchildren, Bailey Heath, Jasmynne Heath, Anthony Shaw, Mariah Shaw, Jordan Shaw, Tianna Shaw, and Skylah Shaw. Also; uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 17 from 4 - 5 PM, followed by a 5 PM memorial service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home website, www.mainefuneral.com
