Albert Boyd Sumler, 76, of Tifton passed away Friday, June 10, 2022, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Landon Alberson officiating. Mr. Sumler will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born May 25, 1946, in Tifton, Mr. Sumler was the son of the late Albert Tillman Sumler and Evelyn Cox Sumler. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Elaine Sumler; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Iris Scoggins and Darlene and Howard Burrous. He was the owner of Georgia Advertising and Georgia Farms and had worked as an advertising salesman for the Albany Herald and the Tiftarea Shopper. He loved bass fishing, watching professional football and line dancing. He enjoyed working and worked hard at his business.
Mr. Sumler is survived by his wife, Wanda Allen Sumler of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Cal Carpenter of Tifton, Lisa Joy McKee and Brian Joy of Valdosta and Kandace and Jimmy Whitfield of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivey and Sue Sumler and Tobie and Clarice Sumler, all of Tifton; one brother-in-law, Gene Scoggins of Tifton; ten grandchildren, Justin Carpenter, Kalon Carpenter, Jesse Carpenter, Whitley Carpenter, Laryn Joy, Emily Joy Lawrence and her husband Kolby, Libby Mainor, Rosemary McKee, Austin Stewart and Thomas Whitfield; and nine great-grandchildren, Lucy Jo, Sara, Abby, Lizzie, Jace, Jimmy, Sophia, Noah and Saylor.
