Anthony M. Tammaro
Retired U.S. Postal Service Supervisor
TEWKSBURY: Anthony M. Tammaro, age 86, a resident of Tewksbury for 44 years, formerly of East Boston, passed away at home in the care of his family on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of Regina B. (D’Amico) Tammaro with whom he celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on May 17, 2022.
Born in Boston on March 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Generoso and Louise (Pagliarulo) Tammaro.
Anthony was raised in the North End of Boston and attended Boston Public Schools.
In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War era. He received the Army Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal for his active-duty service.
He was employed as a supervisor by the U.S. Postal Service at the South Boston Annex as well as a cab driver in the City of Boston until his retirement.
Anthony enjoyed playing cards, golfing, gardening, shooting pool at the Tewksbury Senior Center, and following the Boston Red Sox.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Joy T. Macri and her husband Justin, and Jillian L. Tammaro, all of Tewksbury: two granddaughters, Layla G. and Nina R. Macri. He was the brother of the late Louise Tammaro, Michael Tammaro, Phyllis Evans, Maria Tammaro, Gloria Ferrante, Rose Marie Maglio, and Domenic Tammaro.
Anthony leaves several nieces and nephews, and many extended family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend his graveside service to be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 16 at the Tewksbury Cemetery Veterans Lot, 172 East St., Tewksbury. Please meet at the cemetery.
