Brian H. Ballard, of Dorchester, MA passed away on May 27, 2022 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Northampton, MA, on August 19, 1955, the elder son of Howard and Marie (Dietrich) Ballard, who predeceased him.
Brian was a 1977 graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he earned a degree in finance and, later received an executive MBA from Northeastern University. He worked many years as a contractor and project manager for the federal government. His work included assignments abroad in such places as Belgium and Saudi Arabia, where he also made life-long friends, savoring the loyalty and meaningful relationships these experiences afforded him.
Brian exemplified the true meaning of a ‘bon vivant.’ He loved life, world travel, his home, fondly known as ‘The Meadows,’ and fine food and wine. He especially enjoyed meeting new people, many of whom became his cherished friends and confidantes. He never judged anyone, always seeing the best in others, ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He encouraged them to be, and to strive for, their best. Brian was caring, loving and generous. He touched and embraced fundamentally the lives of many and those lives he touched are all better people for having known him.
He is survived by his brother, Bruce, his wife, Laraine, and their three children, Armena, Christopher (his wife Molly), Michael and great niece Lucy. In addition, Brian had many close cousins and friends who became part of his loving and caring family. He will be missed by many and we will remember his courage, grace and quiet dignity.
In remembrance of Brian’s life the family asks that any charitable donations be made to The American Cancer Society, Huntington Theater Company of Boston or Northeastern University - D’Amore-McKim School of Business.
