Our beloved Gail is dancing to Roy Orbison’s Oh, Pretty Woman along with the angels in heaven. Gail Alexander Nye of Westport, CT passed away peacefully with her daughter and son at her side on January 22, 2022. Gail was a dynamic and creative artist who spent her entire career as a Graphics Designer in the advertising and newspaper industries. Gail cultivated her passion for the arts by earning her degree in Fine Arts from Boston University and her love for all facets of the arts continued throughout her life. She supported the work of local artists, art galleries, Broadway productions and volunteered at community playhouses in Westport, CT. Born Gail Alexander on August 6, 1938, to George & Margaret Alexander in Medford, MA. Gail loved life and spent the majority of it with three companions: Richard Nye, Thomas Batey and Arthur Ohnikian.
She is survived by her two brothers Herbert (wife Maura) Alexander and Stephen (and his late wife, Jean) Alexander, her children Jill Nye-McKeown (husband Tom) and Jeffrey Nye (wife Katharine), her grandchildren Brent McKeown, Abigail McKeown, Alexandra Nye and Olivia Nye, and her step grandchildren Cass and Teagan Steers.
Along with her family and friends, Gail’s faith and devotion was her core and provided the foundation and support for her life’s ups and downs. Friends and family who knew Gail used adjectives such as: classy, stunning, beautiful, kind, compassionate, nurturing, bright, joyful, grateful, hopeful and “together”.
Gail will be remembered with a Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11am at Aram Bedrosian Funeral Home in Watertown, MA. A visitation period will be held on Saturday Morning from 10 - 11am, immediately prior to prayer service. Burial will followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
