Anna Gloria (Capogna) Flynn of Marshfield and formerly Arlington and Medford passed away peacefully at 87 on May 31, 2022 in her home with her children by her side.
Born in Boston on July 29, 1934, she was the daughter of Maria (Roccaforte) and Pasquale Capogna. Anna attended Lincoln Jr. High School in Medford, where she met the love of her life, Jack Flynn. They graduated from Medford High School in 1952 and married on June 2, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Medford. In 1968, the young couple moved to Arlington where they raised their family and founded Anna’s Fried Dough. After Jack’s passing at age 55, Anna’s deep faith, positive spirit and fierce independence allowed her to lead her family with grace.
Anna is predeceased by her loving sisters Phyllis, Dolly, Frances, and her brother Phillip. She is survived by her son Jackie Flynn and his wife Nikki of Stevenson Ranch, CA; her daughter Jeanie Flynn of Boston, her daughter Karen O’Connor and husband Dennis of Boston and her 3 beautiful granddaughters: Kena, Riley and Gracie Flynn whom she adored. She is also survived by many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Her three granddaughters were her pride and joy, and she proudly celebrated their many accomplishments. She indulged their every wish with no regard for their parent’s rules.
Anna also loved all animals, especially her grand-dogs whom she spoiled rotten.
Anna worked hard her entire life, successfully owning and operating Anna’s Fried Dough for over 50 years. Yet, she always found time to be there for her family and friends.
Anna was a fabulous cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Every Christmas Eve she graciously hosted an open house serving the traditional Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes. Her hospitality was unrivaled. Nothing made her happier than having a full house and she lived by the adage “the more the merrier”.
At 67, Anna moved to Marshfield and fulfilled her and Jack’s dream of living on the ocean. She easily forged new friendships as her door was always open. The constant stream of visitors and the memories created with family and friends delighted her.
Anna truly loved people and treated everyone she met with dignity and respect. She was gracious with her time and had a genuine interest in their lives. Our beloved Anna will forever be remembered for her warmth, generosity, kindness and contagious laugh.
