Henry Richard Palmer (Dick) Foshay Sr. Was born October 5, 1938, in Mount Kisco. He met his devoted wife of 60 years, Betty (née Ruhle) at Grace Church in White Plains, she was 5, he was 10. It wasn’t for years that they realized that they met that young. He was a renaissance man. In his younger years he loved to play sandlot football with his best friend and brother in law , Bill Ruhle. He worked on Wall Street in the 60’s and 70’s as a systems analyst for Irving Trust Company on Rector Street. He then became an entrepreneur, opening 3 successful retail and food stores, with Betty. When one of the stores burned down, he became a contractor- rebuilding many of the stores that were destroyed by a devastating fire in Briarcliff Manor in the 1980’s. He knew how to do anything, and everything. He loved to read biographies, especially of political figures current and past. Dick loved the Hudson River, and genealogy. The most important things he cherished were his 3 children, Lorraine Gallagher (Martin), Barbara Golecki, and his namesake Henry Richard Palmer Foshay, Jr. (Rich). He adored and did anything for them, and even more for his 5 grandchildren. Mary Elizabeth Gallagher, Grace Golecki, Mage Krupp-Foshay, Abigail Golecki, and Rowan Krupp-Foshay. He loved doing everything for them. He was a fantastic Chef, and we will miss that greatly. For many years He catered the annual Inspection Dinner for the Briarcliff Fire Department, of which he was a member, making his famous beef Wellington. He was wise, but always quick with a joke , too. There was nothing he couldn’t figure out, fix or build. His trademark hats and constant smile always let folks know he was around. Always quick to stop to talk to anyone, about anything. He was an amazing man, who will be sorely missed. He passed peacefully, holding his wife’s hand, on Monday May 30, 2022 at 83.
