Obituary

PARSONSFIELD- Norma Lee Chapman passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Gorham House, May 31, 2022. She was born March 30, 1943 at her childhood home in Porter, ME. Her parents were the late Clayton Ezra and Mary Ella Eastman. Norma was one of 14 children, she had 8 sisters and 5 brothers. Norma attended schools in Porter, ME.
Norma met the love of her life (Myron E. Chapman) in 1958 at a local dance at the “Famous Dance More”. Norma and Myron were married October 2, 1959. They built their home in Parsonsfield, where Norma was a stay at home Mom of 7 children.
Norma stayed busy with the children, she also gardened, she would preserve vegetables and fruits to last a full year. Norma was also an excellent baker, her children loved the after school treats. During deer hunting seasons, hunters would frequently stop in for a hot cup of coffee and a slice of one of her freshly baked pies.
As her children grew Norma went to work outside the home. She was employed by the Kezar Falls Woolen Mill. She enjoyed her job and was sad when she had to resign due to a workplace injury.
Norma’s life came to a standstill on March 20, 1986, when her husband Myron died after injuries sustained from a logging accident. Surrounded by family and friends Norma was able to slowly regain her life.
Norma loved her family very much. Christmas was especially a high point. She loved to decorate for the holidays, she knew that the children would love it. When the family was together the house would be filled with everyone talking and alot of laughter.
Norma was predeceased by her husband Myron, her daughter Cindy, 6 sisters and 2 brothers.
Norma is survived by her children Darlene Parday and husband Jeff, Myron “Preston” Chapman and wife Terriann, Linda Chapman and partner Kelly, Paul Chapman and Wife Kathi, Peter Chapman and partner Renee, Ginger Anderson and husband Eric. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday June 7 from 2 - 4 PM with a 4 PM to follow at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., in Cornish. Burial will follow at North Parsonsfield Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Myron.
