Timothy “Tim” Shepard Johnson, 70, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Wayside Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Campbell and the Rev. Ken Harper officiating. Tim will be laid to rest at Wayside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Tim will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Dan Richardson, Bill Moore, Garrett Newell, Greg Bridges, Lee Phillips and Steve Hooks will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Conger LP Gas.
Born August 7, 1951, in Tifton, Tim was the son of the late Carl Shepard Johnson and Edna Grubbs Johnson. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Stan Johnson. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1970 and was in hotel management for 25 years and managed hotels in Atlanta, Orlando, Florida, Asheville, North Carolina, Birmingham, Alabama and Tifton. He joined Conger LP Gas in 1997 and was currently employed there as a customer service representative in the front office. He was a member and deacon of Wayside Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully. When the doors were opened, he was there. He loved his church family very much. He loved fishing with his son, Tate, and going to Georgia Tech and Alabama football games with Tate, even though he was a Georgia Bulldog football fan. He also loved NASCAR races and Atlanta Braves baseball.
Tim is survived by his wife, June Tawzer Johnson of Tifton, who he married on June 16, 1972; one son, Tate Johnson of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Stanley Arrington of Tifton; six nieces, Brandi Arrington, Ashlie Collier, Amanda Stone, Misty Gibson, Wendy Failor and Tisha Boothby; one nephew, Brad Arrington; three great-nieces, Camyrn Collier, Katie Failor and Blakely Arrington; seven great-nephews, Mason Collier, Gavin Starling, Carter Stone, Caden Stone, Ty Gibson, Ben Failor and Cohen Arrington; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet and Dennis Vickers of Tifton.
