Barbara Ann (Champagne) Carroll, 88, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital.
A daughter of the late Elzear Champagne and the late Mary R. (Moran) Borski, and step daughter of the late James Borksi. She was born on May 10, 1934, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School with the Class of 1952 as a Girl Officer and Baton Leader.
She made her lifelong home in the city and worked for Highland Towel as a supervisor for many years. She also worked for Tony’s Sandwich Shop for many years, enjoying the atmosphere and comradery of satisfied repeat customers. Time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was what brought her the most pleasure in life. She also enjoyed reading, watching TV, as well as volunteering her time to nursing home chapels, doing readings and helping with services. Above all else, she adored her cats.
Her survivors include her children, Norman Carroll Jr. of Bedford, Stephen Carroll and his wife, MaryLou of Lowell, Mark Carroll and his partner, Lori Stecchi of Las Vegas, NV, and Kimberly Ann Carroll and her partner, Kevin Newell of Lowell; her brother Raymond Champagne and his partner Jean Gaudette of Weymouth; her nine grandchildren, Krystal Martin and her husband Jason of Bedford, Kristopher Carroll of Los Angeles, CA, Kyle Carroll of Woburn, Eric Carroll of NH, Heather Carroll of NH, Nicholas Byron and his wife, Renee of N. Billerica, Timothy Byron and his wife, Kate of Maynard, Kelly Carroll of Ipswich, and Anthony Stecchi of Las Vegas, NV; her six great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was the mother in law of the late Sandra Carroll, sister of the late Henry Champagne, and Rita Love, and an aunt of the late Henry "Tiny" Champagne and his wife Mary Champagne.
On Friday, June 3, 2022 relatives and friends are welcome to attend her funeral service which will take place at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Cemetery (Chapel), 1251 Gorham Street, Lowell.
