Daniel Kevin Murphy, 80, of Medford passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Life Care Center of Stoneham. Dan was born on September 9, 1941, the son of the late Daniel and Catherine “Babe” Murphy, and lived his formative years in Somerville, MA. Dan was the devoted husband of Carolyn M. (Watts), with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. They lived happily in their first and forever home in Medford, beginning in 1966. Together they enjoyed travel, socializing with friends at St. Francis, and family time. Dan will forever be missed by his daughter Erin Cafferky and her husband Chris of Medford, and his son Shawn Murphy and his wife Shannon of Milford. He also leaves behind his 5 cherished grandchildren Brianna, Ryan and Meghan Cafferky and Liam and Keigan Murphy.In addition, Dan is survived by his sister Claire McMahon of Malden, and his brother Larry Murphy of Somerville. Dan was predeceased by his twin brother John “Kenny” Murphy, formerly of Malden. Dan is also survived by Kenny’s wife Emily, now of Reading, and many loving nieces and nephews. Dan proudly served in the U.S Army Reserve for six years. He was also a long-standing member of the Irish American Club in Malden and the Retired Men’s Club of Arlington. Dan enjoyed volunteering at Wednesday night Irish American BINGO, bowling, and was a devoted Red Sox fan. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday June 3rd at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday June 2nd from 4-7 PM.
