Obituary

BRIDGTON – Arlene E. Perry-Dyer, 82, of Bridgton, Maine passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 14, 2022 with her husband, son and daughter by her side.

Arlene was born in Sorrento, Maine, daughter of Lucille Robinson-Perry and Donald Perry. She graduated from Portland High School in 1958. She lived many years in Westbrook, Maine and her later years in Bridgton, Maine. She also spent her winters in Tavares, Florida for 13 years. She worked for Maine Savings Bank as a loan officer for the majority of her life. Her last, and favorite, job was at St. Joseph’s Manor in Portland working in the child day care.

Children were the most important part of her life – she absolutely loved all children. She loved animals as well. When not playing with the children she enjoyed shopping, getting her nails done, going to the beach, sunbathing, music and dancing. She played the piano and enjoyed stamping and card making as well. She enjoyed family cookouts, traveling “Down East” to visit family and spending time with her friends. She also enjoyed reading; books by Sydney Sheldon were her favorite. Holidays, especially Christmas were very special to Arlene. Baking Christmas Cookies with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was an annual event.

Most people were not aware that Arlene struggled most of her life with many health problems. She always had a smile on her face, laughter in her heart and light in her beautiful blue eyes. She had a heart of gold and placed everyone else’s happiness and wellbeing before her own. Her body did its best to house Arlene’s beautiful soul for as long as possible. It was truly a blessing to know and love her.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frederick W. (Bill) Dyer of Bridgton; a son, Frederick W. (Billy) Dyer, Jr. and his girlfriend Shawn Marie of Standish; a daughter, Michelle Williams and her husband Vincent of Norway; a brother, Alan Davis of Fryeburg. Her three grandchildren; Nicole Parker and husband Luke of Sebago; Amy Parker and husband Abe of Raymond and Adam Williams of Hilliard, Ohio. Additionally, 5 great-grandchildren; Brooke, Braylea, Ava, Ayla and Ryan. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins who adored her; along with many very dear close friends.

A special “Thank You” to her nephrologist, Dr. James Wasserman and his staff for the kind treatment and care she received from them during her six years on Dialysis. An additional “Thank You” to Bonny Dyer for her loving care and support and to the wonderful and loving caregivers that she was blessed to have during the last few months of her life. Arlene’s wishes were to have no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Online condolences may be expressed at the Poitras Funeral Homes website: www.mainefuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to her favorite charity “St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital” or the National Kidney Foundation.
