Obituary

SPENCER: Glenn G. Reed,69, of Spencer, died Saturday, May 28 at his home surrounded by his family, after a long and brave battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife, Darlene A. (Boulette) Reed, two sons; Michael S. Barden and Zachary T. Reed all of Spencer, two brothers, Christopher Reed of Jacksonville, FL. and Daniel Reed of Milford ; four sisters, Heather Guilfoyle and husband Greg of Punta Gorda, FL., Bonny Burns and husband Russell of Jacksonville, FL., Jennifer Glass and husband Eric of Brookfield, Katie-Sue Morway and husband Tim of Worcester. Three brother-in-laws; Anthony Boulette and wife Jean of Oxford, Ricky Boulette of Oxford, Brian Boulette and wife Colleen of Paxton and a sister-in-law; Jody Evan and husband Carl of Spencer, as well as 23 nieces and nephews, and 16 great nieces and nephews. Glenn was predeceased by his brother Wayne Reed of Jacksonville.

Glenn was a Service Director in the automotive industry for several employers over the last 30 years, retiring due to illness. He previously owned and operated Reeds Fort - Gun and Archery Store in Brookfield and The Great Outdoor Store in Sturbridge. He was a former Police officer for the town of Brookfield as well as a licensed elevator technician. He was very involved in serving on the administrative Board and as a coach for the Leicester/Spencer Pop Warner youth football league and Spencer Little League Baseball for many years. Glenn was a kind and generous man who loved his family and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone at any time. He was an avid NE Patriot Football fan and loved family gatherings.

He was born in Palmer, the son of the late George L. Reed and Elizabeth A. (Killmeyer) Reed who resides in Jacksonville, FL. Glenn graduated from Tantasqua Regional High School and attended Seaway Baptist Bible Institute of Theology in Williamstown, Ont.,Can.

At Glenn’s request, funeral services will be private and burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours. The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is directing arrangements for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Glenn's honor to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 or to the Spencer Rescue Squad, 6 Bixby Rd., Spencer, MA 01562.
