PARSONSFIELD- Charles “Scott” Thayer, age 62, passed away on May 23, 2022, at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born August 27, 1959 in Hartford Connecticut to Verna and Charles Thayer. He is survived by his sisters Susan Leannarda and Amy Thayer as well as his mother Verna Thayer.

He leaves behind his loving wife Susan of 34 years, whom he met on a blind date. They were married on Thanksgiving weekend in 1988 and had 3 wonderful children. Kristine Thayer of North Attleboro MA, Marshall Thayer of Parsonsfield ME and Weston Thayer of Baldwin ME.

After graduating from Walpole High School, he became a machinist. He also was a firefighter, and EMT in the town of Norfolk Massachusetts and continued for Kezar Falls Fire Department when he moved his family to beautiful West Pond, Parsonsfield Maine in September of 2000. Scott enjoyed donating his time to help others. Such as working with the Boy Scouts, fire department and football boosters. Scott was a Scoutmaster for Cub Scout pack 375 for many years. His favorite Boy Scout events were the rocket launch, pinewood derby and cake auction. Scott was an avid outdoorsman and his love for guns and machining was the perfect mix for a gunsmith. He turned his passion into a business when he moved to Maine.

He was loved when he was with us and will be missed. In lieu of flowers donations in Scott’s name can be made to the National Park Service or to the American Cancer Society. The family invites all that knew and loved Scott to a celebration of life gathering on August 27th 2022. Please write to [email protected] to receive more information.
