COCHITUATE: Marie I. (Weeks) Maley, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 following a period of declining health. She was born in Natick on May 21, 1931 the daughter of the late Charles A. Weeks and Bertha K (Smith) Weeks. Marie was the devoted wife of the late Edward F. “Red” Maley who died on October 21, 2010. She was the beloved mother of Michael P. Maley and his wife Barbara of Grafton; William P. Maley of Salem and daughter-in-law Valerie R. Maley of Danvers; Annemarie Maley Rockwell and her husband Dr. Jeff Rockwell of Marblehead; John T. Maley and his wife AnaReghina Wong Maley D.D.S. of San Francisco, CA; Charles F. Maley and his longtime companion Sheri Gladu of Natick; Kathleen Mooradd and her husband John of Medway; Theresa I. Maley of Natick and the late Edward J. Maley, who died on July 9, 1981 from injuries sustained in a house fire. She was the cherished grandmother to 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her sister Patricia K. Nelson of Milford and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Barbara A. Hollett and brother David C. Weeks. Marie was a life-long resident of Cochituate and attended Cochituate Grammar School, graduated from Wayland High School and attended the New England College of Art. Marie began her career as an Executive Secretary and was associated with Lombard Governor Company in Ashland, Raytheon in Wayland and also worked in the Wayland Public School system. For many years Marie was an integral part of the family business, Cedar Lawn Tree Service. Marie was intellectually curious and was exceptionally well-read. She was a talented artist who loved to paint and wrote volumes of beautiful poetry which she shared with her family and friends. She was brilliant with the written and spoken word and was affectionately known as “Tuny”, but her proudest title was “Mom”. Marie was referred to as “the Vault” as she always had time to listen and was a confidant to many, holding court at her kitchen table. Everyone knew that their secrets were safe with Marie. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, June 1 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Route 30) in Cochituate Village, Wayland. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 9:30 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin’s Church 99 Main Street (Rte.27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
