Ayer – Gary Groleau, 66, of Ayer, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2002 in CareOne at Concord after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 2 years and companion of 23 years, Elizabeth (Kelman) Groleau; his three children, Andrew Groleau of Oxford, Adria Groleau of Worcester and Timothy Groleau and his wife, Kristen of Auburn; a step daughter, Amanda Wood-Nessen and her husband, Allen of Fishers, IN; a brother, Ronald Groleau and his life partner Bob Strscn-Reuter of Leesburg, Florida; a sister, June LeBeau and her husband Richard of Thompson, CT; his three precious grandchildren Zaria, Margaret, and Jacob Groleau along with many nieces, nephews, and friends whom were like family to him.
Gary was born in Oxford, MA son of the late William and Margaret (Cassie) Groleau, he graduated from Baypath Vocational School and attended Northeastern University. Mr. Groleau had been working for the past 11 years with Catania Oils in Ayer as their Informational Technology Manager, he developed many lifelong friendships and relationships.
Gary loved to cook, and never missed an opportunity to prepare a meal for his family and friends, and he loved to bring it to work to feed the office. He traveled to many places but truly loved to spend time in the White Mountains where he could often be found sitting on his deck enjoying a fine cigar and black sambuca. Gary was a fan of the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins and often attended many games with his wife.
Gary will be remembered as a loving husband, proud father, devoted grandfather, faithful friend, and dedicated employee whose larger-than-life appearance and personality always brighten a room.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers at both Emerson Hospital and CareOne at Concord for the exceptional care, love and support that was shown to Gary and his family during his battle with cancer will not be forgotten.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 1, from 4 to 7 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester, MA. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Gary may be made Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry Devens, MA.
