Obituary

Profulla “Prof” Chandra Khaund, son of late Golok and Premada Khaund, was born September 1st, 1931 in Jorhat, India and died in Winchester Hospital on May 19th, 2022. He came to the U.S. in 1955 to pursue his master’s degree at University of Missouri. Prof married Nirupoma Khaund in 1957. They both moved to Pittsburg, PA for work, and shortly thereafter to MA, where they lived for 54 years. Prof did his undergraduate studies in IIT Kharagpur in India, one of India’s most prominent technology universities. As a successful civil engineer and entrepreneur, he rose to the position of President, and became the owner of Green International Affiliates, Inc. He started other consulting and service firms and built them into very successful businesses. Khaund was involved in designing many bridges, roadways and environmental projects in New England. He won various recognitions and awards in structural and environmental engineering. Prof was a leading member of the Assamese Community in the U.S. and helped several Indian professionals launch their careers. He never missed a Red Sox game, he loved going to casinos and was an avid tennis player. After retirement he became a Sudoku fanatic, working on puzzles daily. Profulla is survived by his three children, Dipak Chandra Khaund, Rollin Chandra Khaund and his wife Kimberly Khaund, and Nina McGeehan and her husband John McGeehan, one grandson, Paul James McGeehan, and a host of siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews in India and U.S. Funeral services were private. Prof was cremated along with his beloved wife.
