Marjorie M. Giles-Rodgers
Devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother
TEWKSBURY: Marjorie M. Giles-Rodgers, age 75, a lifelong Tewksbury resident, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
Born in Lowell on November 8, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Norman T. Giles, Sr. and the late Marjorie L. (Young) Giles.
Marjorie attended Tewksbury Schools and was a member of the Tewksbury High School Class of 1964.
Marjorie devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Marjorie was a single mother to five beautiful children. In the early years, Marjorie worked at the Anchor Restaurant in the evening in Tewksbury, so she could be home to raise her children during the day. Later, Marjorie worked the early morning shift a Dunkin Donuts allowing her to spend all day caring and assisting to raise her grandchildren. Prior to retiring, she joined KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc., where she was a dedicated employee and wore many hats including cooking, caring for the children, taking care of class pets, and anything else that was needed. She would then return home to her own grandchildren.
In 2012, Marjorie decided to retire, so she could enjoy her time with her family and friends.
Her greatest enjoyment was attending her grandchildren’s dance recitals, baseball games, basketball games, cheering competitions, soccer games, gymnastics competitions, swim meets, karate and so much more. She was their biggest cheerleader and supporter.
In her spare time, she enjoyed going out to lunch and shopping with her friends, where she would always return home with gifts for her grandchildren. She also loved taking walks and enjoyed outings around New England with her family. Marjorie also loved ice cream and was a frequent flyer at every ice cream parlor in Tewksbury.
Marjorie was also an active participant at the Tewksbury Senior Center where she had many friends and thoroughly enjoyed the many activities they had to offer. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society
She is survived by her children, Robert N. Rodgers, of Tewksbury, Shawn M. Rodgers and his wife Dale, of Merrimack, NH, Shannon L. Doherty and her husband Michael, of Tewksbury, Jamie D. Rodgers and his wife Kristi, of Tewksbury, and Lawrence W. Rodgers, of Tewksbury; her eight grandchildren, Bryan, Brittany, and Tyler Rodgers, Brady and Brennan Rodgers, Madison Rodgers, and Hanna and Sadie Doherty; two great grandchildren, Brody and Cheyenne Rodgers; and her brothers, Norman T. Giles, Jr. and his wife Lindy, of Tewksbury, Kevin G. Giles and Phyllis Stickney, of Haverhill, and George T. Giles and Heidi Montgrain, of Fall River. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Marjorie is now at peace after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Marjorie was greeted in heaven by many of her beloved friends and family who preceded her.
Calling hours are Tuesday, May 31, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, June 1, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury.
