Obituary

John Shefford Phipps, Jr., 51, of Millville formerly of Medway, died May 25 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester following a long journey with cancer. He was the husband of Jennifer (Luccio) Phipps for the past 20 years.

Born in Brighton, June 14, 1970, the son of the late John S. and Ruthann (Kelly) Phipps, John was raised in Medway and had lived in Millville since 2001.

John was a 1988 graduate of Medway High School and a 1997 graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1997 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He served in the Army during Desert Storm attaining the rank of E4.

John worked in sales throughout his life, selling cars, mortgages and solar panel systems over the years. He was outgoing and energetic and loved getting to know people from all walks of life during his time in sales.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughters, Jaclyn, Jenna and Jillian Phipps, all of Millville. He loved spending time with his girls and planning fun things to do on weekends and vacations.

John is also survived by his sisters, Diane Kelly Costanza and her husband Eugene of Milford and Tracey Mank and her husband Rick of Cedar Creek, Texas.

John is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Courtney and Christopher Mank of Elgin, Texas; Michael Costanza of Milford; Justin Luccio of Medway, Alexandra (Luccio) Kelly of Blackstone, Louis Luccio IV of Uxbridge, Victoria Luccio of Dorchester, Riley and Shane Kindred of Franklin.

John was a member of the Medway V.F.W. He enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, playing golf and playing cards. He loved going out to eat with his friends and was grateful to his circle of friends for their continued support.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 2 in St. Joseph Church, Village Street, Medway at Noon. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.

Calling hours will be private.
