Arthur J. Barnett Jr., 88, of Derry, NH, passed away Wednesday May 25, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born on January 31, 1934 in Chelsea, MA, a son of the late Mary (Gallagher) and Arthur J. Barnett Sr. He was a resident of Derry for more than 50 years, and proudly served his country in the US Navy.
Arthur met his wife Mary right after high school. They married and moved to Derry where they raised their six children. Arthur loved sports, especially baseball, where his favorite team was the Boston Red Sox. He often reminisced about going to the games when he was a young boy. He was an avid tennis player and spent many years on the courts. The license plate on his car read “6 Love” in tribute to his 6 children. His wit and humor was infectious. The eternal optimist: he was sure he would win the Powerball each and every day.
He adored his 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and loved listening to their stories and spending time with them.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary (Hurley) Barnett of Derry; four daughters, Susan White of New Ipswich, NH, Linda Clifford and her husband Chris, of North Andover, MA, Lisa Boyer and her husband Roy of Derry, and Sheila Kelley and her husband Mike, of Londonderry, NH; two sons, Daniel Barnett and his wife Keli, of Merrimack, NH, and Sean Barnett and his wife Shelly, of Londonderry; as well as ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A special thank you to the people at Parkland Medical Center for their loving care and support during his final days.
