Robert F. DeMoranville, 91, of Dartmouth, MA, transitioned peacefully from this life on Tuesday, May 24 at the Royal Cape Cod in Buzzards Bay after a long courageous battle with family by his side.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Frank and Sarah (Miller) DeMoranville, and brother to the late Barbra (DeMoranville) Hamer of California, and the late Kenneth E. DeMoranville Sr of Fairhaven.
Robert graduated from Fairhaven High School a member of the honor society Class of 1948.
He enjoyed being a lifeguard at Pope Beach, in New Bedford, and in CA.
Robert served in the Navy from 1950 – 1955 on the USSNK Perry during the Korean War in the supply division upon the ship. He played basketball for the Navy during that time. He was a member of The Tin Can Soldiers Organization.
Robert’s career was a United States Postal Inspector from 1966-1986 in Lubbock TX, New Orleans LA, and in Boston MA until his retirement, and is a member of the NARPI.
Upon his retirement he lived with and cared for his parents until their passing in Lehigh Acres FL during the winter, and Conway NH during the summer and continued being a snowbird after their passing until moving to Dartmouth, MA in 2015 when his health started to fail. He enjoyed being surrounded and cared for by his loving family.
Robert is survived by his loving daughter Laura (DeMoranville), husband George Torromeo, Jr. and grandson Robert Bucknam of Methuen, MA. His sister in-law Rita DeMoranville wife of the late Kenneth DeMoranville Sr. of Fairhaven, and many nieces and nephews who adored him. With a special mention at Robert’s request to Kenneth DeMoranville Jr, Laura Torromeo and great niece Melissa Arruda of Fairhaven, and Betty (DeMoranville) Cosmo of Dartmouth who were a big part of his life since moving to Dartmouth helping to meet his needs with loving support and care.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Potter Funeral Home at 12:30 P.M.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 11:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. prior to the service.
Burial to follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:00 P.M.
