Summer Brooke Gift made her transition to heaven on December 30th 2021 in an unexpected loss for us on earth but a heavenly gain. She was 43 years old. Summer was born on May 5th 1978 in Canoga Park CA. She was the first born child of Julie and Peter Gift. Summer was a beautiful soul that loved adventure and loved to laugh. She was artistic, creative, enjoyed dancing, country music, camping, family hikes and picnics. Summer was spiritual, and loved God. She also did her fair share of traveling in her life. In high school, Summer lived with her Auntie Wendy and Uncle Michael and cousins, Chris and Andy Cappelano. She studied German and in her Junior year went and lived in Pforzheim Germany. One year later she returned speaking fluent German, highlighting her ability and love for learning that carried well into her adulthood. After High School, she married Garin Leith and moved to Virginia. She later married Aaron Governatori. Both of whom each blessed her with her beautiful daughters. She eventually made her way to the Pacific Northwest where she lived her latter years and thrived in nature, eventually returning home to California. Summer treasured her two daughters Bailey, Brooke, and her granddaughter Maci.
Summer is survived by her daughters, Bailey Leith, Brooke Governatori, Mother, Julie Gift, sister Julie Marquez-Gift, and brothers Jeremy Gift and Michael Barrera-Gift. Her Grandfather, George Anderson of Camarillo. Auntie Cathleen Roberts, Auntie Wendy Cappelano, Auntie Cyndee Park and Steve, Auntie Shelley Marshall and Steve, cousins, Cousins Michelle Roberts, Shauna Roberts, Chris and Andy Cappelano, Jon, Ian and Jennifer. Uncle Michael Cappelano and Uncle Rich Weston. The Barrera-Gift Family, Step Parents, Terry Airport and Alicia Barrera. All the Anderson and Upmeyer cousins.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Peter Gift, Grandparents, Lois Anderson, and Marilee Dobrozenski. Uncles, Michael and Terry Gift.
Summer chose to gift her organs to those in need. She helped to save three lives. Bless those that received her gifts. If anyone would like to donate in Summer’s Memory, NAMI is a wonderful group that helps many people with mental health needs. Thank you to all the love and support given to the Gift family. A special thank you to Regina Shiroma, Cherie Donaldson and Alicia Sarrauto for always embracing Summer and encouraging her to live her best life.
