TIVERTON, RI - Priscilla W. Lawton, aged 98, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at St. Anne's Hospital after a brief illness. Priscilla was the beloved wife of the late James B. Lawton. Born in New Bedford, MA, the daughter of the late Raymond C. Whitney and Dorothy B. Whitney, Priscilla grew up on the water in South Dartmouth and spent as much time as possible at her beloved Anthony's beach where she was a long standing member. Priscilla married her high school sweet heart, raised eight children while traveling the world as a military wife, she made endless friends along the way and had maintained some of those friendships until the end of her life. Priscilla had an amazing zest for life, and lived hers to the fullest, she never refused an invitation. She had a wonderful circle of friends that enjoyed going to concerts, theater, dining out, going to the beach, traveling , playing Bridge and of course cocktail hour. Priscilla was an active member of several groups and organizations, such as, The Women's Club of Newport County, Tiverton Book Club and The Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a devoted life long member of Holy Trinity Church in Tiverton, RI who enjoyed volunteering at The Trinity Trader, the Altar Guild, the choir, and Coffee hour hostess. She received a Proclamation from Bishop Knisely in 2021 for her 45 yrs of Ministry to Holy Trinity Church
Priscilla is survived by her daughters, Jami B. Chace of Tiverton, R.I. and Nina L .( Daniel ) Borges of Dartmouth, MA. Grandchildren are, Tanya Earle, Eliza M Chace, Peter Chace, Andrew Chace, Matthew Borges and Sadie Borges. Great grandchildren, Ruby Earle, Robert Chace, Thomas Chace and many beloved nieces and nephews. Also her " favorite " Johnny Cabral. Priscilla was preceeded in death by, her sons Whitney D. Lawton, Bradford B Lawton, Edward M. Lawton, Peter E Lawton, Jeremy Lawton , and daughter Lisa Cabral. Also, her siblings, Cyrus B Whitney, Jeremy B Whitney, Elenore Valador, Martha Collins,and Susan Wilcox.
Priscilla was one of a kind, quick witted, the life of the party, perfection from head to toe whatever the occasion. She could light a room up with her smile, and always brought the laughs with her marvelous sense of humor. She had a way of making everyone feel special, welcome and loved. We are all fans of Priscilla and she will be missed very much.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 11, 2022 at 10a.m. at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1956 Main Road Tiverton, R.I. Burial will be private. For tributes please visit wilsonchapel.net.
