GILL, Robert E. of Green Harbor, formerly of West Newton, passed away on May 23, 2022. Bob was born September 23, 1941 to the late John and Catherine (Doherty) Gill. Beloved husband of Rita (Skaletsky) Gill. Devoted father of Stephanie Ambrose and her husband Walley of Green Harbor, and Robert J. Gill and his wife Sue of Braintree. Loving grandfather of Andrew Gill. Brother of the late John and Joe Gill. Also survived by eight nieces and nephews.
Upon graduating from high school, Bob joined the Army and entered the 82nd Airborne. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1965 and joined the Carpenters Union. Carpentry was both his passion and his occupation. Bob moved to Marshfield in 1968 and fell in love with Green Harbor, where he became known as an old salt. He enjoyed tending to his award winning garden, was an avid golfer and passionately followed the Patriots and Red Sox.
A visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Chapel, 40 Canal St., Marshfield on Tuesday, May 31st from 9:30-10:45am, followed by a Funeral Mass in the church at 11:00am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private.
