Angela M. Modica (Mantone) passed away peacefully at the Lowell General Hospital on Saturday night. She was 79. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Olympia (Ragucci) Mantone. A Medford resident for 50 years, Angela worked in the food service department of Medford Public Schools for over 20 years, serving at Medford High School and the McGlynn School. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Angela loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed caring for her family and preparing delicious meals for those she loved.
The beloved wife of Anthony J. Modica, she was a devoted mother of Jeffrey Modica and his wife Kristen of Sutton, and Christopher Modica and his wife Carrie-Anne of Tewksbury. Angela was a loving grandmother to Lily, Delaney, Madeline, Christian and Noah. She was a dear sister to Joseph Mantone and Marie Mantone, both of Boston’s North End, and the late Camille Mantone and Madeline D’Ambrosio. The dear sister-in-law of Diane Modica of East Boston, she also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Angela’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, May 26th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston’s North End at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday 4 – 8 PM.
