Lawrence E. "Larry" Atkinson, a resident of Winthrop for over 20 years and formerly of Everett and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. He was 58 years of age.
Larry was born in Medford on November 22, 1963, a son of the late Robert "Bob" Atkinson and Jacqueline F. "Jackie" (Corkum) Atkinson. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston in 1981. Larry enlisted into the United States Army on February 18, 1982 and served his country proudly and with honor. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1986 with the rank of Sergeant. Larry worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service and retired following 33 years of dedicated service again to his country. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed watching all of the Boston sports teams.
Larry is the beloved son of the late Robert "Bob" Atkinson and Jacqueline F. "Jackie" (Corkum) Atkinson. He is the devoted brother of Robert "Bob" Atkinson and Maureen Anderson and her husband John. He is the loving uncle to Scott, Corey and Hayley. He is the dear friend of Joanne Cuneo. He is also survived by his many loving cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Larry's visiting hours on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 4 to 7 P.M. with his Funeral Service at 6:15 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial will be private.
