LIMINGTON - Cleo Patricia Garland, 88, of Limington went to join her husband of 60 years, Albert, in Heaven on May 18. She was surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home as she went on her journey.
She was born in Limington on May 27, 1933, to LeRoy and Marion (Davis) Linscott. She graduated from Limington Academy in 1950.
In Cleo’s eyes there was nothing more important than family. She was always taking care of the little ones, that’s what made her happy.
Cleo was spunky and talented. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She was part of a little band with her sister Gene and friends, they recorded several CDs to share with everyone. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, winning many blue ribbons for her crafts at the county fairs but will be best remembered as being a professional seamstress. She made prom dresses for her granddaughters and others, some with a day notice. Her favorite was making wedding dresses, the more complicated the better, she loved a challenge.
She began her career in dress making at Maine Dress Co.in Cornish. She was a member of the ILGWU-International Ladies Garment Workers Union. In her mid-life she went to work for Accessories Unlimited in Cornish, making canvas bags. She also worked for the Wedding Loft in Limington, in sales and doing the alterations.
Cleo was predeceased by her husband, parents and Siblings: Betty Gammon, Robert Linscott, Donald Linscott and Richard Linscott.
Cleo is survived by her two children, Albert (Chuck) Garland Jr. of Limington and Carol Reagan and husband Carl of Windham. Five granddaughters; Kim Carver (Dean) of Limington, Nichole Benway of Lewiston, Heather Brown (Seth) of Portland, Cortney Reagan (Brendan) of Naples and Ashley Dougherty (Adam) of Cumberland. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren Kayla (Mark), Colby, Brody, Marley, Reagan, Ezra, Finley, Abigail and great-great-grandchildren Hunter and Garrett, sister Gene Mayo of Limington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thanks to the Compassus Hospice Care Team. They became part of our family over the past five months. There are no words to say how much we appreciate you.
