Obituary

On Friday, May 13, 2022, Diane Maureen Borgatti of Medway, loving wife and mother of two, entered eternal life at the age of 61. She is survived by her husband Dennis, and two children, Michael and Daniel.

Diane was born on August 2, 1960, in Medford, Massachusetts. She worked to put herself through school and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1982 from Stonehill College in Easton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. On November 2, 1985, she married Dennis Alan Borgatti in a lovely ceremony at the Immaculate Conception Church in North Easton, where they resided for 10 years. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston in 1987. After taking time away from her practice to fully dedicate herself to her children, she went back to school to receive yet another degree, this time in Education. She worked in the Mendon-Upton Regional School District for over 15 years.

Diane was passionate and committed to serving her community for over 26 years. Diane served at the Medway Food Pantry, as a member and Chairwomen of the Medway Planning Board, as well as a member and Chairwomen of the Medway School Committee. She was also involved with various subcommittees for the school system, crucially aware of the lasting impact they would have on the town, such as the Superintendent search and green energy initiatives. From negotiating as Co-President of the Mendon-Upton Teacher’s Union to staying up all night working on Student’s IEP plans, Diane always strived to do anything she could for someone in need or to make someone’s life just a little bit easier.

While Diane dedicated herself to serving others, she would consider her crowning achievement the shaping and molding of her children. She always made sure they were loved, well fed, and supported in every way possible. From late nights in bed reading Harry Potter, to countless early mornings hockey mommin’ every variety of hockey event possible, to last-minute homework edits, she was there for it all with a watchful eye and a gentle guiding hand.

She was an unbelievable cook in the kitchen. Both of her children always received home-cooked meals and had a rude awakening when they left for college. From scratch-made apple pies to home-made meatballs and sauce on Sundays, Diane always made sure there was an amazing meal on the table for her family and friends.

Diane also had a passion for nature and loved taking scenic walks along the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine, as well as the idyllic shores of the Irish coast. She was an insatiable reader and a lover of all things Harry Potter and Winnie the Pooh. She was known for her fervent passion of taking care of those she loved, her unruly natural curly hair, and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Diane’s family would like to thank all of the amazing staff at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as well as Brigham and Women’s Hospital for all the care and support they gave in her fight against cancer. While her journey was one of the most difficult, Diane always focused on the good and exuded positivity to those around her. Diane chose to enter a clinical trial with knowledge of the potential adverse consequences, but a steadfast determination and belief that her journey would help improve cancer research for future women.

Her memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Saint Joseph Church on Village Street in Medway at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (https://tinyurl.com/58xhdb43).
