Obituary

Rodolphe Mentor was born in Jacmel Haiti on June 24 1925, to the late Vilbrun Mentor and the late Medina Leveiller. He was one of twelve children, and was predeceased by his older brother, Hernilis and Vilmont Mentor Mentor.

Rodolphe was raised in Jacmel, Haiti in his early years and attended Mont-Signon Elementary School, one of the most prestigious schools in that area. He graduated from elementary school in 1939. He eagerly entered into the Haitian labor force and enjoyed his work. Growing up, Rodolphe was thought of as one of the strongest and a leader of the family. At the age of 9, Rodolphe and most of the youth on the island, at that time fought against the U.S. invasion and occupation, and helped force the U.S. to leave the country. He remained passionate about a better life for life for Haiti and the Haitian people throughout his lifetime.

Rodolphe was blessed with seventeen children and twenty six wonderful grandchildren. He lived vicariously through his children by taking them out, playing, teaching them how to act respomsibly, imparting words of wisdom into them, and building their lives, Honestly his children and grandchildren brought him the greatest joy, love and happiness.

Rodolphe worked for several companies in Haiti such as Haiti Terminal Company, Hasco, Famosa, National brasserie, Sedren as a miner and retired from his final position as a train conductor. His many interests included news, music, and history ( yes, he was a great history teller). He was always well composed and presented himself with excellent posture, but he also had a love for his life and an enduring spirit.

Rodolphe leaves behind the following to cherish his memories: his daughters Yolande, Mona, ( husband Yvrra), Dalene (husband Reveny), Foufoune. His sons Olgens, Lony, Ronaud (wife Kelourdes), Innocent, Sadrack (wife Enise), Damas (wife Eunide), and Dany (wife Cassandra). His tweny seven grandchildren: Reginald, Stephanie, Bianca, James, Claire, Samuel, Stanley, Barbara, Mandiny Neyhseline, Kayla, Rovich, Djesley, Tamara, John, Woodmaelle, Nerline, Tarancha, Magdalena. His fifteen great grandchildren: Siniah, Autumn, Atarah, Emmanuela, Julien, Sophia, Maliah and Catalina; His surviving sister Meprisante, and many relatives, and friends in Boston and Haiti.

Rodolphe modeled for his family how to overcome hardship and how to find purpose in life and in living. He will be remembered as strong, poised, loving, independent and one of a kind. Today, we are not to celebrate his death, but his life. One of the most important things, Rodolphe had a relationship with God, so we believe he is in God's hands for all eternity.
