Obituary





Worcester – Lorraine M. (Vautour) Ouellet, 94, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Saint Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Ouellet was married for 61 years to the late Joseph J. Ouellet, who died in 2008. She is survived by her three sons, Joseph Louis Ouellet and his wife, Suzanne of Wales, MA, George Ouellet and his significant other, Linda of Worcester and Alvin Ouellet and his husband, Jose of Adams, MA; two daughters, Louise Houston of Worcester and Diane Ouellet of West Brookfield; five grandchildren, Craig Houston, Chris Houston, Jesse Ouellet, Chris Ouellet and Ellis Ouellet-Poulin; 6 great grandchildren, Richard Houston, Althea Houston, Devin Ouellet, Benjamin Houston, Jonathan Houston and Andre Houston; four great great grandchildren, Viktoria, RJ, Isla and Ivy; three brothers, Rene Vautour, Camile Vautour and Ivan Vautour all of Canada; five sisters, Edithe Vautour, Germaine Levesque, Louise Vautour, Margaret Arsenault and Maria LeGoff all of Canada and many nephews and nieces.

Lorraine was born in St. Charles, New Brunswick, Canada daughter of the late Alyre and Irma (Daigle) Vautour and is also predeceased by a great grandson, Timothy Houston and seven brothers and sisters.

She retired from the former J.J. Nissen Company where she worked as an accounts payable clerk for many years. She previously worked at Imperial Distributors, Denholm’s and the Mart.

Lorraine was a woman of great faith and joined Our Lady of the Angels Church in 2008 after her longtime church, Holy Name of Jesus closed. She was an accomplished artist and was an extremely skilled at knitting and crocheting. Lorraine spent much of her free time at the Leicester Senior Center or bowling with her friends.

Mrs. Ouellet was the true definition of “Family Matriarch”, she was always self-conscious of her cute little French accent and loved to cook for her family whenever she had the opportunity. Lorraine always cherished her trips back home to Canada to visit family and she would often be quoted as saying “Everything is better in Canada”.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 19, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by her nephew, Rev. Donald Ouellette at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Joy of Music program to the “Timothy Houston Scholarship” 1 Gorham Street Worcester, MA 01605.
