Obituary

CHICOPEE – Paul D. Peloquin, 89, of Holyoke and a former longtime resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, May 13, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on July 27, 1932, a beloved son of the late Armand J. and Leona B. (Desforges) Peloquin. He was raised in Aldenville, graduated from Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester and had lived in Aldenville most of his life until moving to Holyoke in 2011. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Specialist Third Class. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Assumption University in Worcester and later obtained a Master’s Degree. He was employed by the City of Chicopee as a Teacher and had worked at Bellamy Middle School and Chicopee Comprehensive High School. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and was a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks No. 1849 and the Mohawk Beach Estates in Colrain. During his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, camping, traveling and cheering on his Boston Red Sox. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Pearl R. (Chartier) Peloquin who was Called Home on January 7, 2008; and his beloved second wife, Ruth E. Willemain who was Called Home on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. He leaves his five loving children, Ann Messenger and her husband, Richard, of Agawam, Charles G. Peloquin and his wife, Angeline, of Huntsville, AL, Reverend Daniel P. Peloquin and his wife, Jacqueline, of Chicopee, Paula M. Zaitz and her husband, Peter, of Wilbraham and Reverend Eric T. Peloquin and his wife, Lisa, of Chicopee; his 24 cherished grandchildren; his 13 cherished great grandchildren; his three sisters in law, Paula Chartier of Chicopee, Lucille Antunes and her husband, Carl, of Chicopee and JoAnn Chartier of Holyoke; his brother in law, Leonard Chartier and his wife, Louise, of Chicopee; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his beloved parents and wives, he was predeceased by his loving son, Gregory T. Peloquin who was Called Home on March 12, 1968; his cherished grandson, Nicholas P. Roberts who was Called Home November 20, 1983; his sister and brother in law, Claire Denette and her husband, Gerard; and his two brothers in law, Roland and Armand Chartier. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours. His Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
