Cheryl Ann (Welk) Miller, 75, of Franklin died peacefully on May 12 at Milford Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Oregon City, Oregon, February 17, 1947, the daughter of the late Arnold and Merdith (Rittenhouse) Welk, Cheryl was raised in Oregon and had lived in Texas and New Jersey prior to moving to Franklin in 1995. Cheryl married the love of her life, Stephen C. Miller on August 8, 1981 during an unusual heatwave in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Cheryl had been an office manager for the Blanchard Lumber Company/MacMillan Bloedel Building Materials in Oregon, Deltak in Dallas, Texas, Macy’s Department Store and the New Beginnings Learning Center in New Jersey. After moving to Franklin, she worked for Rochester Midland and the Infusion Nurses Society in Norwood from where she retired in 2017.
In her spare time, Cheryl had been a former oil painter and enjoyed listening to country music and going to concerts. Her favorite country acts were Brooks and Dunn, Toby Keith, and Kenny Chesney. Cheryl had an eye for fashion and kept her children and herself dressed in the latest clothes and followed many sports, especially the University of Oregon Ducks and the New England Patriots. Cheryl also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and absolutely loved and spoiled her only grandson, Donovan McHugh.
In addition to her husband of 40 years, Cheryl is survived by her daughter Kirsten McHugh and her husband Ross of Mashpee and her step-daughter Alyson Miller of Katy, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Janet Baker and her husband Jim of Newberg, Oregon, along with many nieces and nephews.
