LEICESTER: Henry F. Kobel,85, of Leicester, died peacefully, with family by his side, Saturday, May 14 in Southbridge Rehab & Healthcare Center.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Carol A. (Wall) Kobel, his son; Henry Kobel and his fiance Debbie of Spencer, his daughters; Susan Streeter of Charlton, Lori Piracci and her husband Dino of Charlton, and June Fish and her husband Mitch of Sandiego, Calif., his stepchildren; Robert Garrity and his wife Kathy of Barre, Michael Garrity and his wife Penny of Rochdale and Paul Garrity and his wife Suzanne of W.Boylston, his brothers; James Kobel and Bill Kobel and his wife Pat all of FL., and a sister; Grace Lear in TN., 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Thomas and Joseph Kobel, a sister Kathleen Larochelle and a son in law Bill Streeter.
Henry was a toolmaker for Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Inc. in Spencer and was also Vice Pres. at Vatco Mfg. in Worcester before retiring in 2001.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Russell and Grace (McCullough) Kobel.
Henry was a longtime police dog trainer for the Quincy and Auburn Police departments. He was a member of the Schutzhund USA and Owner of Cherry Valley Schutzhund Dog Club. He was a member of St. Joseph/St. Pius X Parish.
A funeral for Henry will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. A calling hour will precede the services on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester.
